Idalgashinna Organic Black Tea is FBOP leaf from the renowned Idalgashinna bio-organic garden in the Uva highlands — short, slightly wiry leaves with occasional silvery tips that brew quickly and cleanly.

The infusion is warm reddish with brisk Uva florals and a smooth, uplifting character. Naturally rich in polyphenols, it is a pure organic black tea for a calm, refreshing daily ritual.

Where It's Grown

On the sun-drenched eastern slopes of Sri Lanka's central highlands, Uva is home to some of the most aromatic teas in the world. Between 900 and 1,500 metres, the leaf matures slowly in cool mountain air, building a crisp, clean briskness and a pronounced aroma with hints of wood and honey.

Our Idalgashinna Organic Black Tea (FBOP grade) brings this character to the cup: full bodied and brisk.

Elevation 900–1,500 m
Monsoon Dry kachan winds
Best season July – September

From December to February the northeast monsoon brings rain to these eastern hills. Then, from July to September, the dry, cool kachan winds of the southwest monsoon sweep over the mountains. This gentle stress concentrates flavour in the leaf, giving Uva's seasonal teas their famous mellow, almost wintergreen-like fragrance.

“Rich and clean”

Full bodied and brisk, exactly as promised. You can taste the quality, clean organic black tea, no muddy finish.

“Everyday staple”

Strong enough for breakfast with milk. Leaf quality is excellent. Happy we found this estate tea.

Robert K.
“Solid organic black”

Brisk cup, good body. A touch stronger than I usually drink but that's easy to fix with less leaf.
